In 1957, Walker Evans shot scenes of shops and street vendors on the Lower East Side for a Fortune magazine feature called "The Pitch Direct." These are some of the photos. All are from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

SORRY FOR USING THE NEWS MEME I DIDN'T KNOW HOW ELSE TO GET YA'LLS ATTENTION!
Okay so this post is for Artists that are trying to save some money while vending at conventions.
A few cons that I've gone to have been charging extra for wifi access. (Extra costs?! In THIS economy??) This has lead to some artists/vendors paying the extra cost to use said wifi, or to use their phones as a hotspot (your phone bill!! nooo!!!) or having to switch to cash only (you might lose on sales! also having to do MORE math? plus the trips to the bank to get change?? 😭).
May I present to you: Library Hotspots!
This, of course, hinges on your local library having said service. Luckily, a good chunk of them do! Check your local library if they have hotspots to borrow. If they don't- ask them wtf why not? (DON'T ACTUALLY DO THAT. Write them a nice email saying you're a patron that is interested in this service. That will show their administration that they should invest in hotspots).
Okay so you've checked your library's website and it DOES have hotspots you can borrow- what now? Check the policy for borrowing their hotspots! They often let you know how long you can borrow the hotspot for AND you might be able to request one through an online form. (Listen I get phone anxiety so this is a bonus for me). Now all you have to do is wait to get a notification to pick up your hotspot, pick it up, test it out with your vending equipment (important step!), take it with you to your next convention/vendor event, use it, and finally bring it back to the library once you're done!
okay okay okay so those were a lot of steps. BUT! would you rather be saddled with unexpected costs of having to pay for convention wifi? I sure wouldn't with how expensive everything is already 😭
You might be thinking: "Weirdo-Librarian, why are you telling me this? What do you get out of this?" Well-

-->And Roxana did, going straight for a $3 cone of ice cream! Which, to my surprise and delight, prompted Smiler to gain a special Confident moodlet about selling ice cream on an extremely hot day, “The Coolest Vendor In Town!” XD Plus a separate moodlet for selling excellent-quality food. :) And, as usual, once one Sim had bought something, all the others in the area were eager to check things out! Notable sales included:
I. A guy named Asa trying out the mushroom waffles
II. Someone named Finley also going for a cone of chocolate ice cream
III. Roxana coming back for something more filling and also trying the mushroom waffles
IV. A guy named Mitchell taking a chance on the seafood pizza
V. Someone named Desmond deciding to go for a BOWL of ice cream, because why settle for a cone
VI. Don Lothario showing up and being convinced to buy a slice of Curious Pizza because I thought it was funny
VII. And my very first Sim ever made, Geeker McTest (in this save file a minor celebrity), showing up and also grabbing a bowl of ice cream. :)
Not bad at all, huh? The day’s profits weren’t amazing – $233 for five ice creams, four waffles, one slice of seafood pizza, and one slice of Curious pizza – but the gang doesn’t need the money, they just do this so people have good things to eat that they might not be able to get in their home worlds. :) Plus it’s just fun!
-->Ah, but what were Victor and Alice doing while Smiler was getting their sale on? Well, Victor ended up helping Alice with the ribs (by standing around and chatting with her, because he couldn’t do much else), then they each had a plate (chowing down with Roxana as she enjoyed her waffles) before heading over to the chess tables to play a game! As they both had a want to do so, you see. They spent their time chatting and flirting while Smiler worked the crowd, with Alice ultimately winning the match. All that time spent in Looking-Glass Land must have really made her a chess queen! (Literally – she does indeed get a fancy crown and everything at the end of that book. XD)
-->Once the food sale was over, it was time to start taking care of everyone's needs! Smiler, who was thirsty, went over and chatted with Roxana, learning a bit more about her (“she/her” pronouns, dislikes pop music and fitness) before convincing her to let them have a drink, while Victor and Alice, meanwhile, both used the toilet (with Victor nearly getting walked in on by KATRINA! Caliente – decorum, woman!). Alice then had a brief cloudgaze while Victor went around the side of the building to privately practice Untamed Magic, getting the “Necrocall” spell (which lets you summon ghosts from their gravestones) in the process (and a cute little message from Darkwing saying “New spells are fun!” :) ). I then tried to have Alice and Victor build a sand sculpture together to wrap up the day...
Only for Victor to just stand around supervising while Alice and SMILER ended up building a sand cowplant out the front of the park. O.o Well, I guess that’s one way for them all to participate? It was starting to get a little late, though, and I didn’t want the food in Smiler’s inventory to go bad...

Went to my first solo flea market today. It was just our local one that they have weekly.
I didn’t take much, clothes and a few Knick knacks.
I also didn’t really make any money. I did cover my fees and fuel though so that was great.
For the future I want to get some better inventory. So I really need to get on top of my crocheting and sewing activities. And I really want to be able to do home baked goods and things like that but I am terrible about doing last minute prep.
I think I am going to start doing this every Sunday. Maybe that will motivate me and get my creative juices flowing to kick out some projects.
Any suggestions on things that would do well at flea markets???

tbh it's not just indeed, i feel like this happens with every single job search site.
never gonna forget that time i applied to literally every job in my area that was even remotely described as something i thought i could handle. expected to not hear back from anything. heard back the next day from a job that had been described as "remote work from home" and "entry level, no skill requirements, no prior experience needed" and they were so eager and pushy about getting me started as soon as possible.
it was a job working with placement for foreign exchange students. based on the description i assumed i would only be sitting on the computer looking at applications and pairing them up.
turns out i would also be expected to interview families, check up with the exchange students regularly, perform house checks, and be available to pick students up at the airport and be on call as emergency housing in case a student didn't get placed with a family??? I think???? it was all explained so fast I barely had time to think before they were trying to move me to the next steps. I ended up calling back to decline the job because I had felt so pressured during the combination interview/training call to just go along with whatever (and I have auditory processing problems, so phone calls are hard enough without that extra pressure). I didn't even own a car. "remote work from home"?? when you're expected to drive all over the place?? entry level, no skill, no prior experience, when you're expected to interview people on a regular basis? and the pay was not good.
i question to this day if it was actually a legitimate exchange student program, because it was so sloppy and awkward and hurried. so even on the off chance you send a job application on these sites and actually get accepted for a job, chances are high that it will be a shady job that doesn't even match the description and for which you are not actually prepared to work in.
and good luck avoiding this by applying to jobs by going to the websites of major stores that claim to be hiring, because your application process will require like five different stages of giving them your resume, then answering questions that are already answered on your resume, then doing bizarre personality quizzes for an hour or more. and you'll never hear back from them.
do genuinely find it fascinating how indeed.com is like the biggest job-hunting website out there and yet manages to be profoundly useless in every possible way

The Vendors and Purchasers Act (1888) Basic Guide
The Vendors and Purchasers Act (1888) This law is about buying and selling land, making the process simpler and fairer for everyone involved. Shorter History Needed: When someone buys land, they don’t need to check as far back as 60 years to see who owned it. Now, they only need to look back 40 years to prove ownership. Rules for Selling and Buying Land: No Freehold Demand: If someone is…
